Ponant Expeditions

Gone are the days when going on an expedition cruise meant cramped cabins, poor food, and tired old ships. Now with Ponant Expeditions you can experience the Antarctic and Arctic from the comfort of new luxury ships.

New modern 184-passenger ships Le Bougainville, Le Champlain, Le Dumont d’Urville and Le Laperouse join stylish megayachts Le Lyrial, Le Soleal, L’Austral and Le Boreal which explore remote destinations without sacrificing the luxury style of Ponant Cruises.

These small ships enjoy the atmosphere of a private yacht with refined interior design, superb French cuisine and discreet yet attentive service. All ships have 24-hour room service and a choice of restaurants where complimentary wine is served with meals. The ships meet the 'Green Ship' standard for the protection of marine and coastal environments, and offer a range of expeditions in the polar regions.

In keeping with Ponant's pioneering spirit, the company's four new ships - Le Laperouse, Le Champlain, Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d'Urville - will have a multi-sensory underwater lounge called Blue Eye. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in the underwater world thanks to state-of-the-art hydrophones. Acoustic waves will be transmitted live into the lounge creating a truly immersive sound experience. There will also be Body Listening sofas and large windows.

The Antarctic Peninsula is a major expedition cruise destination, with trips ashore by Zodiac craft to view the penguins, seals, birds and the amazing wildlife - returning onboard to superb facilities and comfort. Some cruises will visit the Falkland Islands or stunning South Georgia with its unspoilt bid and marine habitats. En route to South America fascinating itineraries visit the east and west coasts of the continent.

In the northern hemisphere, the unique North West Passage is navigated between Greenland across the Canadian north to Alaska and on to Far East Russia. Other expedition cruises travel to Spitsbergen and the Arctic in search of polar bears and other wildlife, and to Greenland and Iceland.
